The village received a $90,000 United States Department of Transportation grant funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 for the resurfacing of Fulton Street.  The resurfacing will begin at the “light” at the corner of Main Street and Fulton Street and go ½ of a mile South to Mill Street, ending at Mayville Community Schools.  The Village Council assessed a one time 2010 Summer Millage of (1.0000 Mills) to levy approximately $18,500 in revenues to help pay for the total construction cost of $170,000.  The one-time increase to the average household will be between $25-$50 on your summer tax bill.  The Mayville Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has donated $35,000 to the village to assist in the construction of Fulton Street and to reduce the cost to the taxpayers of the village.  The anticipated cost breakout is below:

Village received a $60,000 Grant from the Department of Energy (DOE) on February 19, 2010. The grant will be used to hire a temporary full-time Department of Public Works Employee for twelve months beginning May 1, 2010.  The employee will be responsible for implementing the local energy assurance planning (LEAP) grant which will assistance the Mayville Community Schools, Village of Mayville, and Downtown Businesses to be more energy efficient and to use “green technologies.”  The hourly wage was set at $12.50 per hour with BCBS Health Insurance for the employee only.  Employment applications are available online at: www.villageofmayville.org under the “downloads” page.  Mail resume, cover letter, and application to the Village Manager.

Main Street Paving: 

The Rural Task Force has approved the 1.0 Mile of resurfacing for Summer of 2013 from Lobdell Road East to M-24.

Promerican Corporation is in the process of moving production operations into the old Dave Shell building across from the Carquest Auto Parts store.  Promerican will be building its Imperial Services line of reproduction classic auto parts, as well as the new SpliSeal product in the Mayville facility.  SpliSeal is a brand new product and will be the core of Promerican's growth. SpliSeal is featured in the May 2010 edition of Classic Trucks magazine.

A special thanks to the Mayville DDA for contributing $1,000 to the construction efforts at the new Promerican Corporation Facility located in the Downtown Business District.

Going Green!  The village received an $18,500 United States Department of Energy (DOE) grant for the purchase of two (2) Swift Wind Turbines to be installed summer 2010 on the Mayville Police/DPW Offices located at 5950 Fox Street.  The total project cost installed is $20,000.  The two (2) windmills will provide the village offices with ½ of the electrical power needed for the building.  This grant was awarded through a collaborative with Tuscola County, Sanilac County, and Huron County.  A special thanks to the Tuscola County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and Director James McLoskey for spearheading this project.

  
 

“Mayville Electric (ME)”, Industrial Park:  Many of the residents have been informed of the electrical grid situation within the village for 3 Phase (Manufacturing) Power needs to create jobs.  The Detroit Energy Corporation (DTE) placed a cost on the village of $427,000 to upgrade the electrical grid in 2009.  The Village Government rejected this improvement, and has since decided to proceed with the construction of an Electrical Generation Facility within the Mayville Industrial and Technology Community Development Park.  The reason for the power facility is to create 1.3 MW of 3 Phase Electrical Power to bring manufacturing jobs to Mayville.  The village has applied for two (2), $170,000 grants to purchase the $200,000 generator set for the facility.  The village expects to be awarded one or both grants by May 2010.
